Title of Research: Television viewing habits and gender stereotypes

RESEARCH PROCEDURES
This research is being conducted by Dr. Angela Hattery and Marissa Kiss at George Mason University (GMU). The purpose of this study is to understand individual’s television viewing habits and their perceptions of gender stereotypes. If you agree to participate, you will be asked to complete this brief survey. This survey will take approximately 5-10 minutes to complete. Individual survey findings will not be reported, only aggregate findings will be reported.

RISKS
There is no foreseeable risks or discomforts associated with your participation in this study. No identifiable information is being collected. However, if you feel uneasy answering questions asked by the researchers, you may refuse to answer the question(s) or can skip any questions.

BENEFITS
There are no direct benefits to you as a participant other than to inform us of the television shows you watch and your views of gender stereotypes.

CONFIDENTIALITY
The data in this study will be confidential. No identifying information (name, email address, birthday, address, or telephone) will be collected. Once the survey is submitted, you will be assigned a unique number code. You will remain anonymous in any reports on the study and your responses will be kept confidential by the researchers. All information collected will be secured in computerized files that are accessible only to designated GMU staff.

PARTICIPATION
Your participation is voluntary, and you may withdraw from the study at any time and for any reason. If you decide not to participate or if you withdraw from the study, there is no penalty or loss of benefits to you. There are no costs to you. There is no compensation for participating.
