Hi, we’re ____ from x Department, and we’re members of United Faculty of Florida. We’re visiting members of the bargaining unit today to learn a little more about their current concerns and interests as faculty and as employees of UF. Do you have a moment to talk?

NO: Is there a better time to talk with you? ______________________________________________

YES: Great! As you know, we just ratified a new contract last fall which is in effect until 2016. That gives us a little time to take stock of what kinds of issues UFF needs to be addressing in anticipation of negotiating a new contract and to learn about what faculty are thinking about. What do you consider to be the most pressing concerns for faculty at this time?

If they express special concern regarding one area or another, you need to use your judgment to determine:

1. do they have specific employment concerns and need to be put in contact with a grievance officer?
2. Do they have a general interest in an issue that might make them want to work on a UFF committee?
3. Are they inclined to be more active in UFF and/or join UFF?
