Hello:
You are invited to participate in our survey. In this survey, you will be asked to complete a survey that asks questions about the voice quality of 88 short audio clips. It will take approximately 20 minutes to complete the questionnaire. The clips are pre-recorded from Voice over IP calls with 4 languages, male and female voices, encoding settings (codecs), and different network scenarios (packet loss rate). You will perceive different voice qualities in 8 different conversations, each repeatedly appearing in a random order 11 times under different level of network impairment. This survey is part of a research that investigates the variation of the user experience of Internet calls under varying network conditions.
PLEASE NOTE：
1. Earphone or headphone MUST be used when listening to the audio clips. Using laptop/desktop built-in speaker will reduce the real audio quality and the results will be NOT be valid and thus can not be used in our research.
2. The test MUST be performed in a quiet environment with minimum disturbance, e.g. study room, library. Results performed in noisy environment (e.g. cafe) will NOT be valid and can not be used in our research.
Your participation in this study is completely voluntary. There are no foreseeable risks associated with this project. However, if you feel uncomfortable answering any questions, you can withdraw from the survey at any point. It is very important for us to learn your opinions. Your survey responses will be strictly confidential and data from this research will be reported only in the aggregate. Your information will be coded and will remain confidential. By ticking the "I Agree" checkbox, you agree that you are consent to take part in the study, and consent to possible publication of results using the data obtained from you in this and future studies without the need for additional consent. This page shows how to grade a voice clip. The grades are from 1 to 5 stars. with higher score in stars indicating higher voice quality.
The perceived voice quality and the level of impairment sense of the voice clips are listed:
