The Economic Contribution of Urban Forestry in the State of California:
A Survey of Cities

The California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection (CALFIRE) has commissioned a comprehensive study of the economic contributions of urban forestry throughout California. Information about these contributions is critical for policy making and budgetary allocations.

Your participation in this survey is voluntary but crucial. Your city may spend money or hire people for tree planting, tree pruning, tree removal, and other services related to urban forestry. Your answers to the questions below will be treated confidentially. The information that you provide will help us to estimate the economic impacts of urban forestry in the state.

We ask that the following questions be answered for 2009 or your most recent fiscal year. Please answer the questions to the best of your ability. Information about actual expenditures or employment is preferred to budgeted amounts. An estimate or a rounded number is better than no answer. Please write ‘UE’ if you are unable to estimate. Please answer these questions by March 30th, 2010.
