Thank you for sharing your feedback.

EpicGem is designed to help ...

- capture your stories and memories (we call them "Gems"),
- personalize those Gems (however you want - your words, your voice, your photos)
- share your Gems instantly with friends and loved ones
- allow your audience - be they 2 or 102 years old - easily access your works
- preserve everything in a single electronic (Gem) shelf for future enjoyment.

Your feedback will allow us to focus on developing those features that will help you most in preserving your memories and sharing your stories.

We're sorry if you were unable to access the EpicGem prototype. Could you please explain below the issue you were having, so we can remedy that?

Following are a few slides showing what the EpicGem prototype looks like.  If you can take a moment to examine these, it would help us if you could still continue with this survey.

GEM SHELF

Copied below is a screen showing the electronic shelf on which finished stories and albums can be accessed electronically by persons you share your stories and albums with.

GEM READER (Page 1)

Copied below is a screen showing the first page of the Gem "Farm Tales" that has been opened from the Gem Shelf.

On each page, audio recorded by the author starts playing automatically.

GEM READER (Page 2)

Clicking on the blue arrow, advances the story to page 2 of the Gem "Farm Tales" (shown below).

GEM WORKS

To create a new story album, you click on the "Pencil" icon in the header, which takes you to the Gem Works screen (shown below).

Gem Works is an electronic shelf from which you can ...

* start a new Gem

* select an existing Gem to further edit. and share with others

GEM TOOLS (Start a New Gem)

Clicking on the "Start a new Gem" button from Gem Works (the prior screen), brings you to the Gem Tools screen (shown below) for a new Gem.

The left side of the Gem Tools screen (highlighted below) allows you to :

* name your Gem

* insert a photo on the current page

* record narration or sounds (to play automatically when a reader accesses this page)

* publish this Gem (making it available on your Gem Shelf with other published Gems)

GEM TOOLS (Start a New Gem)

The right side of the Gem Tools screen (highlighted below) allows you to:

* see the content of the current page

* input and edit text (in the yellow text box)

* navigate to edit other pages of this story (using the page navigation tool bar at the bottom of the screen)

GEM TOOLS (Edit Existing Gem)

By clicking an existing Gem (from the Gem Works screen), you can continue editing and publish (or even unpublish) a story or album.

The Gem "Farm Tales" is shown below in Gem Tools, ready for editing.

Now that you have seen some of the functionality proposed for EpicGem ...

... what features would be most helpful for you to share your memories and stories?

(Please check one box on each row below.)

(but not

I would use

(to tell a story in my own way)
* Narrating pages in my own
voice (to personalize my stories)
* Sharing a story electronically
(so readers - young and old - can experience it on their own)
* A single electronic book shelf
(where all works I create and share can be easily found by others)
* EpicGem providing me with stories to personalize and share

Thinking about the functionality currently shown in our prototype ...

Are there any other features that would be useful to you?

Please help us understand how much you would value EpicGem as a service.

For this question, we are asking about 2 different types of story albums:

1> The first type are Gems you create yourself and then share using EpicGem;

2> The second type are stories created by someone (each at least 10 pages long with professional illustrations, like this e-book) that you could personalize and share using Epic Gem.

Assuming you could could edit and change each type of Gem (for free) as much as you want before sharing it (with an unlimited number of other people), ...

... how much would you be willing to pay per Gem at the time you share it?

  *
$5 or more

If you would prefer not to pay (i) per story or album, or (ii) per month, but otherwise would be willing to pay for certain features ...

... could you please explain?
