Please read the description of the new health coaching service called Adventure Health Coaching.

More and more people are waking up to the fact that we don't have to wait to get sick and then go to a doctor, but we can prevent a lot of diseases, feel more energetic and improve our health by what we do and eat in our daily lives. Health coaching is effective in assisting you to do and eat those things in your daily life. In health coaching you get advice and guidance of food/eating habits, physical activity and behaviour change. The aim is assisting you to gain and maintain healthy behaviour. Maintaining healthy behaviour leads to a healthy weight and appearance, more energy and productivity, less stress and an overall higher quality of life.

Adventure Health Coaching is a new health coaching service. It is a flexible service for women that want to add some adventure to their life, that want to have the benefits of a healthy lifestyle as specified above and are willing to work on that. The service can be offered at adventure recreation centres. It consists of both group meetings with other participants and one-on-one coaching with a professional health coach.

The group meetings include adventure activities, experimenting and learning about healthy food, evaluating and celebrating your health progress and getting encouraged by the other participants’ successes and tips. The one-on-one coaching uses clinically proven effective strategies that look at your unique situation, enable you to take control of your daily life and work on your small self-set steps towards a healthy lifestyle. The aim is to equip you in less than half a year to live a healthy life without the need of professional help.

You can pick and choose which meetings you want to attend, how many times per month and for how long you want to continue participating in the meetings. Find out what works for you, drop the things you don’t want/need anymore and keep the parts you want to keep doing until you are fully equipped to live healthy without professional help. The strength of Adventure Health Coaching is that it combines adventure activities, engaged learning, support from other participants and one-on-one health coaching to make the transition into your healthy lifestyle a fun, adventurous, social and overall positive experience.

Background information
A pilot of the Adventure Health Coaching was done at Riverlife. Riverlife is an adventure recreation organisation, situated at Kangaroo point in Brisbane, Australia. The adventure activities Riverlife offers are: Kayaking, Stand Up Paddle Boarding, Mountain Biking, Kick Biking, Rollerblading, Rock Climbing and Abseiling.
