Welcome!

Thank you for your participation earlier this semester in the Pen Pal Letter study as part of my dissertation research project, designed to explore the impact of a training delivered over the Internet. Again, my name is Natalie and I am a doctoral candidate under the direction of Dr. Bernstein in the School of Letters and Sciences.

I am inviting your continued participation in this research project by completing an online follow-up survey. If you choose to participate, your participation will involve answering a series of questions similar to those you answered as part of the UNI 150 Pen Pal Letter assignment earlier in the semester. This survey will take approximately ten to fifteen minutes to complete. You have the right not to answer any question, and to stop the survey at any time without penalty. Completion of this survey is entirely voluntary. There is no penalty for choosing not to participate. For example, your participation in the survey will not affect your grade.

There are no foreseeable risks or discomforts to your participation. Your responses to the survey will be used to explore the impact of the Pen Pal Letter project. IF YOU COMPLETE THIS SURVEY, YOU WILL RECEIVE A $5 AMAZON.COM OR STARBUCKS GIFT CERTIFICATE OF YOUR CHOICE. A question in the survey will ask for your preference of gift certificate. The gift certificate will be emailed to you in electronic form. You will need to enter your first and last name in order to receive the gift certificate. You are not required to enter your name if you do not wish to receive a gift certificate.

If you choose to participate, your responses will be kept confidential. Your data will be kept in a password protected, secure location. The results of this study may be used in reports, presentations, or publications but your name or any other identifying information will not be used when reporting results.

If you have any questions concerning the research study or trouble accessing the link, logging into the survey, or receiving your electronic gift certificate, please contact me at [email protected]. You can also contact my advisor, Bianca Bernstein, at [email protected]. If you have any questions about your rights as a subject/participant in this research, or if you feel you have been placed at risk, you can contact the Chair of the Human Subjects Institutional Review Board, through the ASU Office of Research Integrity and Assurance, at (480) 965-6788.

Thank you,

Natalie Fabert, M.Ed.
