Hello, You are invited to poll re. planting at the 4 roundabouts.

The question of planting low-growth ground cover came up last year at the August meeting, after Fafard built the roundabouts in an effort to improve aesthetics. To that end, there was a walkthrough on September 11 in which one of the items noted as an action item was ground cover in common areas to offset the annual recurring expense of mulch.

The landscaper's estimates for this are:
Mulch for all 4 roundabouts: $700
Planting for all 4 roundabouts: $3000

At the turnover meeting on June 17th, this was again discussed and was noted as a followup action item in the email sent out to the trustees and Affinity on June 23rd.
At the trustee meeting yesterday, one of the trustees suggested that planting be postponed until next year.

Q1. Now or Next year

At the meeting yesterday, it was suggested by one of the trustees that we postpone the planting until 2016 spring. Choose if you want to plant this year or next year.

Q2. Mulch

Instead of plants, buy mulch (Bob estimates about 6 bags of mulch (priced approx. $4 per bag) for each roundabout.

Q3. Money

If you chose No for Q2, how much would you want the association to spend on plants for each roundabout?

$100

$200

$300

Q4. Options

Plant a combination of low-growth flowering perennials like creeping phlox/thyme and shrubs (and mulch to fill in gaps, in which case we will need fewer bags of mulch).
Since the former, i.e. low-growth flowering perennials, are no longer available and not in season, a possible plan may to stagger the planting such that flowering shrubs like black-eyes susan, daisies etc. go in this year and the low-growth perennials next year, if deemed necessary.

No

Q5. Adopt a roundabout

Since the landscaper's costs are prohibitive, residents living closest to one can determine their interest and participation and go ahead with choosing plants/planting/mulching. Future maintenance such as weeding, watering and renewing mulch is part of this package.

Yes

No

A majority vote on each of these questions will determine the final decisions.
