Dear Colleagues, following up on the Tableau Business Intelligence suit developments by KN IL LCC Wroclaw R&PM team, we would like to collect your opinion and feedback, on the first reports and prototypes shared with you. It will help to streamline next steps and further developments.
For you information and convenience, current reporting prototypes are based on the Tableau Reader funcionality. Upgraded alternative for future consideration is Tableau Server version. the difference beteen both, as explained benath:
Tableau Reader
No access rights - just work with the file. If the users have an unlimited access to data, no problem. If the access rights should be limited - You have to create as many data extracts/ reports, as the number of users
No automatically data refresh. The Tableau Desktop user has to refresh the data, save the file and send it to the end users via e-mail or shared folder.
No "view data" option - drill through functionality is unavailable for the Tableau Reader users.
The users work with the file - no control over the file, possible some technical problems with sending the file (if it's like 30 MB "heavy"…)
No control over the end user's activity.
Tableau Server
Full users access rights control on many levels - the users may get (or not) the rights to view data, filter, drill through, comments, share the analyses, modify their definitions etc. The administrator may define the scope of the data allowed for particular users. Integration with Active Directory.
Automatically data refresh based on defined schedulers - even every 5 minutes.
"View data" - drill through option available for the end users.
The users work with the website via browser or mobile device. No problem with "heavy" files.
Full administrative control over the users activities - monitoring of the loggings, analyses used by particular users etc.
