The Social Committee would like your help in planning Health Challenge Session #2!



We were thinking we should switch things up a bit for Session #2…do you agree?





First thoughts were to make each Challenge more “challenging!”:



Workout - We thought of saying that 60 minutes of light activity (ie light walking), would equal 30 minutes of more strenuous activity (that produces sweat!). There would still be a maximum of 1 workout a day…no more than 7 a week. We could also make it harder with a goal of 4 workouts a week rather than 3.



Weight loss – Keeping the goal at loosing more than 5% would make it more challenging for those who have already lost, and keep it challenging for new people signing up.





OR…





We thought if both Challenges were made more difficult, it’s possible we’d get less participation. (Some people might want to work on maintaining a current weight or loosing less than 5%, and some people might want to challenge themselves with working out at all, but not as much as others). So we could do them with different levels:



Workout – We could have people choose their OWN challenge. For those who don’t workout at all right now, maybe their goal would still be 3 30-minute workouts a week. For those who already walk every day, maybe they want to challenge themselves to do 60 minutes of walking, and/or fit in some 30 minute strenuous workouts.



Weight Loss – We could have people choose their OWN goal: maintaining current weight, or loosing any percentage/pounds they wish.



***To keep the winnings fair if we do it the second way, we could still have people owe money to the pot if they miss their own goals for the week, or gain weight, and in the end, the people sharing in the pot would be everyone who met their individual goals. The grand prize winners could be drawn out of a hat (of the people who met their goal), since it wouldn’t be fair to pick the highest in each category since everyone’s challenges were different.***




Other options:

  -We could choose one way now, and another way for Session #3?


  -We could think of the Weight loss and Workout Challenges as being totally separate from each other, and making one with different levels (the Weight loss) and one just harder (the Workout)?


  -Instead of having everyone chose their own challenge and ending up with many different goals…we could just pick 2 levels within each competition, then things could be measured more fairly and competitive?
