Explicit instruction of pronunciation does improve students' performance but only in a very limited way
I believe that it is important to systematically address pronunciation issues and include phonetic work in my lesson plans.
Based on my classroom experience, Spanish pronunciation does not seem to be a problematic area for English speakers.
I usually focus more on sound discrimination rather than on stress or intonation.
I do not think that pronunciation teaching has any major impact on the development of learners' communicative skills.Mere exposure to L2 input is sufficient.
I do not devote much attention to pronunciation instruction since learners usually make minor mistakes that do not prevent effective communication.
Based on my teaching experience, explicit instruction of pronunciation is well received by students and contributes towards their improvement in other areas of the language.
I do not usually target pronunciation issues when teaching intermediate or advanced students as I do not see the need for it.
Spanish pronunciation is not a challenging area for students since it can be easily deduced from the spelling.
Do you use any particular method in your teaching of pronunciation? If so, which one?
What challenges do you find when it comes to the teaching of pronunciation?
Has your teaching of pronunciation changed over the years? Explain
Do you believe that pronunciation can be taught?
