School Counselor Evaluation Techniques

Counselor Eval Tools

Hello, My name is Joey James. I am a school counselor in the Lakeland School District at Timberlake Junior/Senior High. I am also nearing completion of my coursework at the University of Idaho for my Specialist Degree in School Psychology. This survey is in conjunction with a course I am currently taking, entitled “Advanced Evaluation Techniques”, taught by Tom Trotter, Ph.D. I am writing to ask for your assistance in identifying current trends and practices in assessing children in schools. I am developing a handbook for school-based helping professionals, which will be compiled with data from this survey. Any information you can provide for the following questions would be extremely helpful and much appreciated. I have obtained your e-mail address from the ASCA members’ directory for Idaho as well as several independent sources.

-------------------------------------------------------------------

A survey conducted in the spring of 2004, identified several major issues counselors face on a daily basis in the Idaho school systems.

This survey focuses on 10 of those issues (Self-mutilation/cutting, suicidal ideation, depression, stress/anxiety, motivation/apathy/indecision, substance abuse, bullying/harassment, social skills deficits, eating disorders, immaturity/adolescent behaviors). Our hope is to understand how counselors are identifying children in these problem areas and how resources are being utilized by counselors to assist these children.

Please answer each question and provide any additional information that may be helpful to colleagues in the field.

Each content area contains 4 questions. Depending upon your answer to the first question, you may be directed to a different area. If you feel important information has been ommitted, please feel free to provide comments in the "other" section. Also, please use "other" selections to provide as much detailed information as you can about assessment and follow up treatment/referral solutions for students.
Are you a school-based helping professional or school counselor?
Questions are branched according to the answers you provide in the "assessment type" questions. If you do not answer, a submission error will appear on your screen. Click "ok" to go back to the question. The error will be highlighted in RED text, next to the question. Please fill in a response and continue.
Some test suveys have experienced time-out errors.

Thank you and enjoy the survey!
