John McSorley left Ireland in 1851, most likely due to the Great Potato Famine, and opened up an Ale house in New York. It is still very successful after 152 years, having such famous visitors as Abraham Lincoln, E.E. Cummings, and Daniel O’Connell stop in for a drink. It seems to combine American and Irish history into one friendly and conversational atmosphere.
