You are invited to participate in our survey for a shopping assistant device. This is a device that aims to improve the shopping experience in shoe stores. Mainly to provide faster service, give you pertinent information about shoes you are interested in, and save you money.



You will enter a draw to win a $50 Visa gift card.

It will take approximately 10 minutes to complete the questionnaire.

How often do you go for shoe shopping?
How much do you spend on shoes per year (optional)?
What type of store do you usually buy your shoes at (Can check more than one)?
A feature that would tell you how well a shoe will fit your foot. This is based on your foot width, arch, and fit surveys of people your size. Would you find this feature -
A recommendation feature that will recommend a shoe that you will likely be interested in (think of Amazon). You will see a picture of the shoe, the price, and potentially a special discount just for you.
When you scan a shoe it tells you if it is in stock in your size.
A service button. When you scan a shoe and press the service button, the sales associate automatically gets a message that you want that shoe in your shoe size. The sales associate brings you the shoes you want without having to be asked to bring them.
A wishlist button you press after you find a shoe that is out of stock. You can view your wishlist online and will get an e-mail when the shoe comes in with an option to "buy it now".
A wishlist button for items that are too expensive. You can view your wishlist online and will get an e-mail if the price of the item is reduced or if it goes on clearance.
Impulse buy button. When you press the button you automatically purchase the item and are not allowed to return it until the next day. In return you get an additional discount of 5%-50%. The discount is increased as you impulse buy more items.
A quick checkout option. Sales assistant quickly checks you out on the floor. The receipt is stored electronically and is accessible online.
Shoe reviews on LCD screen. We will give you shoe reviews including comfort, look, features such as orthopedic sole, and user reviews from various websites like Zappos.com.
A handheld device with a shoulder strap for shopping comfort and the above features would be something I would use if it were available.
I would sign up for an account and fill in my pertinent information to use this device.
I would enter my credit card information in my account to enable features such as easy-checkout and impulse-buy discounts.
I would sign an agreement that would allow the store to track my use of the device in an effort to build a more intelligent recommendation engine.
This device would be a nuisance in a shoe store.
Would you use a similar device with similar features (product reviews(epinions.com), wish lists, and discount offers) in an electronics store such as Best Buy?
