In your opinion, does the Arabic term riba best translate into English as:
Are you aware that western banks such as HSBC offer Shari'ah compliant mortgages?
Would you consider taking one of these mortgages, even though it might work out more expensive than a non-Shari'ah compliant mortgage?
Do you consider that the Shari'ah compliant mortgages offered by western banks are truly permissible in Shari'ah law?
In your opinion, do these mortgages contain gharrar, or risk/uncertainty?
Does the fact that western banks borrow, at interest, on the money markets, the funds provided for these Shari’ah mortgages mean they can not be Shari’ah compliant?
If an authoritative fatwa pronounced these mortgages impermissible would you avoid them?
