You are invited to participate in my University of Pennsylvania Capstone survey on funding of K-12 gifted learners. In this survey, approximately one thousand American professionals will be asked to complete ten questions regarding their experiences and their personal opinions regarding the need and funding for gifted education services. It will take you approximately 3 minutes to complete the questionnaire.
Your participation in this study is completely voluntary. There are no foreseeable risks associated with this project. However, if you feel uncomfortable answering any questions, you can withdraw from the survey at any point. It is very important for our study to learn your honest opinions.
Your survey responses will be strictly confidential and data from this research will be reported only in the aggregate. Your information will be coded and will remain confidential. In what region do you reside? Is providing a strong educational program for identified gifted learners in our national interest? If you participated in a gifted program (K-12) at any time, did you find it met your academic and social/emotional needs? What level of government should primarily bear the burden of funding services for gifted learners? What is your level of understanding and knowledge regarding the exceptionalities of gifted individuals? From the $56 billion dollars submitted by the President for FY2009 for the federal education budget, zero dollars was requested for gifted and talented expenditures. Congress is currently sponsoring legislation that would appropriate 11 million (last year 7.6 million was approved) for national research and demonstration projects.
