PARTICIPANT INFORMATION STATEMENT AND CONSENT FORM

Exploring the Relationship between Personality Traits, Email Overload and Productivity in the Work Place.

You are invited to participate in an honours research study investigating email use and productivity. We hope to learn what influence personality traits have on email overload and productivity in the work place. You were selected as a possible participant in this study because you are employed by Transfield Services Limited.

If you decide to participate, you will complete a short survey containing some demographic questions and a series of statements, where you will need to indicate on a scale from 1 to 5 your level of agreement.

Your involvement will take about 15 minutes.

We cannot and do not guarantee or promise that you will receive any benefits from this study. Your decision whether or not to participate will not prejudice your future relations with the University of New South Wales. If you begin the survey we hope that you will complete it fully, but you are free to withdraw your consent and to discontinue participation at any time without prejudice. Completion and return of the survey will be regarded as consent for use of the results.

Any information that is obtained in connection with this study and that can be identified with you will remain confidential and will be disclosed only with your permission, except as required by law. If you give us your permission by completing this survey, we plan to submit the results as an honours research project for marking by UNSW academics. In any publication, information will be provided in such a way that you cannot be identified.

If you have any questions or any concerns about this research, you are encouraged to contact the investigators, honours student Kagan Sevinc or his supervisor Associate Professor John D’Ambra (contact information provided below).
