A study of American Jewish voting patterns in recent presidential elections, designed to examine if any shift has taken place in the political attitudes and voting behavior of American Jews.
In the run-up to several presidential elections in the past fifty years, pundits have predicted a shift in the voting behavior of American Jews, claiming that Republicans might break the solid Democratic lock on this demographic group. Despite these predictions, American Jews continue to vote overwhelmingly for Democratic presidential candidates. This paper will analyze possible explanations for why the predicted shift has not happened and whether we can expect a significant movement of Jews away from the Democratic Party in the near future.
