My thesis topic is “Professional Theatre in the Midwest.” My thesis deals with perceptions of theatre in the Midwest held by citizens of the United States and Europe. My hope is to prove that there is indeed a wide variety of high quality and professional theatre companies in the Midwest.
Due to the limited amount of time I have available and the complexity of the topic, the thesis concentrates primarily on the Midwest as defined by the states South Dakota, Minnesota, Illinois and Nebraska. To accomplish my goal, I am conducting a survey among theatre companies and artists in these states.
