Project Description

Write Now web site

Project Abstract

This research project is based on the dual coding theory of language processing, i.e., that visual and textual coding must be presented simultaneously for effective comprehension and communication of the English language. The hypothesis is that ESL students may be deficient in simultaneous visual and textual coding which results in effective writing skills, specifically in this case, the ability to form coherent, well-structured sentences. The Write Now web site has been developed to provide simultaneous visual and textual exercises for ESL students to learn how to write sentences. It is hypothesized this methodology will result in improved performance and achievement.
