Supporting document management in complex multitask environments

The current project focuses on document management of information workers in a complex multitask environment. The continuous and active use of paper documents in modern offices suggests that paper has a better match with some important user needs and that these needs are not supported sufficiently by the existing digital DMS. The research showed that the problems experienced by information workers in managing digital documents are closely related to information overload, on the one side, and to the insufficient match between digital tools and basic human needs, on the other side. The goal of the current project is, therefore, to define and validate a set of guidelines that must be met by a digital DMS in order to improve document management support in the digital domain.
