Project Description

The Effect of Personality Traits and Perceived Equity on Relationship Satisfaction

Project Abstract

The goal of this research is to examine the effect of positive personality traits and perceived equity on romantic relationships among dating or married couples. The data will determine whether personality traits and perceived equity have main effects on romantic relationships, and whether there is an interaction between personality traits and perceived equity in ones satisfaction in relationships. We hypothesized that positive personality traits, such as optimism and trait forgiveness, would positively affect the outcome of a romantic relationship. Also, when a relationship is perceived as equal, people are also more likely to have a higher degree of relationship satisfaction.
