Project Description

Control Protocols for Networked Entertainment Technology Control Systems

Project Abstract

Control Protocols for Networked Entertainment Technology Control Systems: How will the entertainment lighting industry implement the suite of protocols and languages of ANSI E1.17-2006 Architecture for Control Networks (ACN) and utilize mainstream network technologies?

The open networking standard for the entertainment technology industry, ANSI E1.17-2006 Architecture for Control Networks (ACN) (2006), was ratified on 19 October 2006 by the American National Standards Institute (ANSI).

From a theoretical perspective the developments within ACN have been rapid. However, despite the immense amount of work put into the ACN E1.17 standard (2006), the complex nature of the protocol, as well as potential pitfalls and shortcomings, has implications for implementation.
