Family ties in Magical Contagion
Magical contagion is the finding that people seem to believe that people and objects that come in to contact with each other influence each other through transferring some or all of their properties. This influence continues even after contact is broken and may remain permanently. The research will look at the domains of disgust and germ virulence that have previously been found to show magical contagion. In addition a section of the questionnaire looks at the mother/ main guardians relationship with the participant to investigate whether the hypothesis that those with a close relationship will find illness virulence to be lower than those with a more distant relationship.
