The Ohio State University
Cross Cultural Mediation
This project examines methods of dispute resolution used domestically in other countries and compares them to those employed in the United States. We will explore how differences in culture, religion, history, and legal institutions affect the way people resolve conflicts. We will also consider how such factors are influencing the development of dispute resolution systems as alternatives to domestic court systems. Just as one's understanding of English deepens as a result of studying a foreign language, one goal for the project is that by studying other approaches to dispute resolution, we aim to discover a fresh perspective on its practice and role in the United States.
