Project Description

To complete an empirical research project on attitudes toward and perceptions of people with STDs. The project will include a literature review, data collection and data analysis.

Project Abstract

Abstract
The proposed study will be designed to determine what Ramapo College students' attitudes are toward those with STDs. For the purposes of the study, STDs will refer to diseases such as Chlamydia, Genital Herpes, Human Papillomavirus and Genital Warts, not HIV/AIDS. A survey, approximately 35 questions in length, on attitudes towards people with STDs will be designed and placed on a Ramapo College website for Ramapo College students to access. Students with Ramapo e-mail accounts will then be e-mailed to inform them about the survey and encourage their participation in it. Additional measures will be taken to inform as many current Ramapo College students as possible about the survey. Norms for attitudes toward people with STDs will be calculated based on the survey data. Students' responses will also be broken down into two groups, younger students(18-30) and older students (31 and over), for comparison.
