With the advent of DIY Marketing tools, market research has gone through a sort of transformation.  It’s actually a rather exciting transformation, in my opinion because now we can take our focus OFF of the transactional services we offer around gathering feedback and put it where our experience and expertise really shine — in helping organizations of ALL shapes and sizes actually listen to their customers and constituents in a way that’s never been possible before….

In the past, we BUDGETED for market research.  This usually included our annual customer satisfaction survey and then we simply looked at our marketing plan an set aside a budget for the new product research we were going to do in the next year.
These days things are a little different.  I find myself recommending a market research plan over and over to small businesses and that means that I had better start explaining what a market research plan looks like….

While at the Government 2.0 Summit, the QuestionPro and Survey Analytics team interviewed Bev Goodwin, Director of New Media and Citizen Engagement.  One of the programs they talked about was Challenge.gov.  This is a program that brings in a diverse set of voices to work on challenges together.  This program uses a crowd sourcing platform to get the job done….
