30 June 2006 *THE SURVEY PERIOD HAS NOW ENDED ~ THANK YOU FOR VISITING*

Dear Colleague,

Thank you for visiting this website. Unfortunately the survey for the International Medieval Congress in Leeds finished on the 30th June 2006 and we do not require anymore responses. Approximately 500 people who registered with the IMC at different times in the past were invited to take part and we are pleased a considerable number have taken part.

Most of the questions were focused on the Congress but there were also important demographic questions which were aimed to help us to meet delegates' expectations. All data has been be treated confidentially in accordance with UK laws. Responses are confidential and data from this research will only be reported in the aggregate.

If you have questions about the survey, please contact the IMC survey coordinator Peter Orange using following email address: [email protected] .

Thank you visiting this site and for your support.

Yours faithfully,

Axel E. W. Müller

Director, International Medieval Congress

Prices should be set differently for each country.
Registration price is not the critical factor for me to attend.
There should be a lower price for low-income people.
I would be willing to contribute extra to the bursary fund.
There should be a bursary fund specially for delegates from specific geographic regions.
At what price (for full registration) would the Congress begin to look affordable to you? Select one.
At what price (for full registration) would the Congress price begin to look too expensive? Select one.

I think all the papers should be published (printed or online) by the congress.
Preferable format of published papers should be:
How much money do you spend during your stay in Leeds (excl. IMC Fees)
Where do you spend this money?
Who funds your trip to the Congress?
The bursary funds I receive cover:
How much money are you given from your institution/organisation to attend conferences each year? (Give amount in pounds £)
I supplement my attendance at the IMC with my own money.
I compete with others to be awarded funding to attend the IMC.
How many people can your institution afford to send to the IMC each year?

I wish the Congress was held in city with more medieval ambience.
I enjoy visiting Leeds.
When I come to the congress I also visit friends.
I like to go out in Leeds during the congress.
If the IMC was in a different European city each year I would be more motivated to go.
The IMC should be closer to the city centre.
IMC in Leeds is convenient because it is always in the same place.
If the IMC changed location it would deter me from coming.

The IMC programme book is engaging and interesting.
I can find details on sessions quickly and easily in the programme.
I would be happy to buy the programme at/during the congress.
I don’t need to receive the full IMC programme 6 months before the congress.
Its easier to search the IMC programme on the IMC website.

I'm not interested in submitting a proposal every year.
If I submit a paper to another conference I won't submit one to the IMC in the same year.
I thought I could only attend the congress if I presented a paper.
I can only get funding from my institution/organisation if I present a paper.
