Broadsheets journalists working as foreign correspondents enjoy more autonomy than those working form the UK newsrooms.
I am hoping to prove that foreign correspondents permanently based abroad on a long term assignments enjoy more autonomy than journalists working from the UK based newsrooms. Autonomy is understood as story selection i.e. what issues they cover and what angle to take on a story, selection of sources, number of copies filed, copy deadlines.
Credit of autonomy is given to them because of their prestige but also distance between the newsroom and the correspondent. Even so, the arrival and constant development of new technologies has had an enormous impact on information flow, correspondents still manage to maintain these freedoms to some extent.
