Common Assumptions about Boarding Schools

Hello:
You are invited to participate in our survey about assumptions and common stereotypes about boarding schools. In this survey, approximately 150 people will be asked to complete a survey that asks questions about your thoughts on boarding schools. It will take approximately 10-15 minutes to complete the questionnaire.

Your participation in this study is completely voluntary. There are no foreseeable risks associated with this project. However, if you feel uncomfortable answering any questions, you can withdraw from the survey at any point. It is very important for us to learn your opinions.

Your survey responses will be strictly confidential and data from this research will be reported only in a research project for the class Intro to Cultural Anthropology at Clark University. 1. Have you ever attended a boarding school for any period of time?

2. Have you ever said, or heard said, stereotypes about boarding schools? For example; Oh, everyone must be gay, your parents must hate you, did you get in trouble etc.

3. If you answered yes to question 2 what stereotypes have you heard, including those listed as examples.

4. Are you, or have you ever been affiliated with a boarding school in some other capacity? (Teacher, Administrator etc.)

5. If you answered yes to question 3 why did you choose to work at, or involve yourself in a boarding school community?

6. Are you an alumni of a boarding school from the class of 1999 or earlier?
