Hello:

In our classes, students demonstrate several general education core competencies. These competencies anchor our assessment activities, and this year your program has been selected to present best practices in achieving one related to socialization and cultural awareness.

You have been asked by your Dean to share your experience in teaching students about these social, cultural, and global issues. Please describe and identify the following features of such an activity used in your class in the Fall 2011 or Spring 2012 semesters.

Share your successes and help your program earn recognition for supporting the mission statement of the College. Show off your best practices focused on how to help students live and work in diverse and multicultural world.

It will take approximately 10 minutes to fill in the details.

Your responses will be identified by the course ( not the full ID with section, etc.) and a random number. Also the data from this assessment will be reported in the aggregate and placed in WEAVEonline for you. One person in your program area or the Assessment Team will collect a sample handout or template from you to illustrate the skills and perspectives on global education that you will identify below.

If you have questions at any time about this task or the procedures, you may contact Bea Peterson at [email protected]. Some additional information to help you along is under the little orange question mark icons.

Note: Your coordinator or ambassador will also be able to upload a sample or handout for your activity to the Document Management area on WEAVEonline for you.

1. Contact the person designated by your Dean for help.

2. If all else fails, e-mail Bea Peterson - [email protected] and I will be happy to include your document in WEAVE.

Thank you very much for your time.
