This questionnaire is an aspect of the Evaluation of the Indigenous Ranger Cadetship Pilot Program (IRCPP) for the Department of Education, Employment and Workplace Relations (DEEWR). The information gathered through the questionnaire will assist in gaining understandings about progress in the Pilot Program. By understanding the individual and aggregated achievements of the Pilot schools, consideration can then be given to possible future effort in the area. Importantly, completion of the online questionnaire for each participating student will also meet many of the DEEWR monitoring and reporting requirements for the IRCPP.

This questionnaire has been designed for completion by the coordinator who has responsibility for the school’s IRC Pilot. However, it is envisaged that the coordinator may wish to consult with others when responding to at least some of the items. It may also be necessary to refer to school records. As the questionnaire is part of the school’s accountability requirements to DEEWR, information provided in the questionnaire will need to be verified against these records.

The questionnaire is to be completed for each student who has participated or is participating in the IRC Pilot at the school. This will allow us to update our understanding of the progress of each student through the Pilot.

The questionnaire will not identify individual students. However, through a code based on the student’s date-of-birth, it will be possible to link student data between this questionnaire and a follow-up questionnaire later in the Program. This will enable each student’s progress in the Pilot to be tracked over the course of the Evaluation. The Evaluators are not to be provided with any link between a student’s date-of-birth and their name.

Information from the questionnaire will only be reported at the school and Program level. No information will be reported at the student level.
The data to be collected in this questionnaire include: the student’s date-of-birth; their current school Year; some personal characteristics; attendance information; literacy and numeracy performance; and, progress towards attainment of Certificate I and II/or elements of Certificate II.

Once you have completed the questionnaire for one student, click ‘Continue’ to save the data and access another questionnaire form for the next student. If you need to leave the questionnaire part way through entering the information about any one student, go to the bottom the page you are on and click on ‘Save page and Continue later’. This will save the data you have entered and allow you to return to it at a later time. So that you can return to that student, a link will be emailed to you allowing the questionnaire form for that student to be accessed from the point where you left off. However, it will be necessary for you to record the name and birth code alongside that link in your notes to make sure the questionnaire is being completed for the same student.
