Thank you for taking part in this important survey!

The purpose of the study is to better understand the connections that exist between individuals and organisations in the local community, which will be used in developing plans and activities to help keep people safe in emergencies like floods, bushfires, major storms etc.
Due to the nature of the study some of your responses may be attributable to you in the report on the survey results. However, all of your responses provided throughout the survey will be treated with strict confidence. Only necessary survey responses will be provided to a small team of people in the SES and the Hawkesbury-Nepean Flood Management Taskforce, and none of your details will ever be passed on to any third parties. Who are your Top 10 ‘Go To’ People / Organisations?

To understand your connections in the area (shown on the map above) we would like you to think about all of the people in the area that you know. It doesn't matter if you know these people personally or just see them or know of them. They may be people or organisations:

    · You see regularly and know well, such as family, close friends, work colleagues, local retailers, your mechanic, the local butcher, the lollipop lady at the children’s school etc.
    · You are involved with through community groups – e.g. church, school or sporting groups, volunteer groups, U3A etc
    · You see at sporting or social events
    · Public figures like your local MP, or an ‘upstanding citizen’ in the area
    · Or anyone else you would turn to for information, advice, help etc

When listing your contacts please be as specific as possible i.e. specify the name and/or location so we can be sure who you are referring to. However, if you don’t know the name of a contact at an organisation, you can just list the organisation name and the role that person plays in your life. Please feel free to look through your mobile phone contacts, Facebook, address book etc. to help remind you of your contacts. However, please remember these people must live, work and/or play in the area.

Within the Hawkesbury-Nepean Valley area, who are the top ten people or organisations you would ask or turn to for any kind of advice, information, services, help, or even gossip?

This could be for anything at all - e.g. about where the best schools, restaurants, shops or cafes are, what's going on in the area, services like doctors or tradespeople or babysitters, how to be prepared in case of any kind of emergency, what you should do during or after an emergency, how you can help others or get help yourself, what the rules are about things in the area etc.

Please start by listing all the types of people and/or organisations you would contact for these sorts of things, in terms of the roles they play in your life e.g. neighbour, newsagent or even newspaper, spouse, local council, colleague, cousin, scout leader, school teacher, doctor etc. Then type their name. If you do not know their name that's fine, just leave this blank.
