Hexavalent Chromium in our clothes A toxic scandal for the Portuguese company Iconic
Iconic is one of the most well-known Portuguese clothing companies. Due to the company's good name, they are expanding to many foreign countries including Belgium and the Netherlands. However, after many years of experience in the clothing sector, Iconic has now been accused to use toxic material for its production. The Economist announced that the mixture used to colour the clothes contains a 24 milligrams of Hexavalent Chromium. This substance, tolerable only under the 3 milligrams, it is banned from the EU market because highly carcinogenic. According to the magistrate, many people has been injured from the Hexavalent Chromium. The contact with the substance caused heavy skin rush on a large number of people, with 7 dangerous case of skin corrosion and intoxication. It’s a toxic scandal for the Portuguese company Iconic. |
