Preventing Employee Fraud at Universities

Dear Respondent

I, Ranesh Sivnarain, am a Doctor of Admininistration student, at the School of Management, IT & Governance of the University of KwaZulu-Natal.

You are kindly invited to participate in a research project entitled EMPLOYEE FRAUD AND PREVENTION STRATEGIES AT UNIVERSITIES IN KWAZULU-NATAL. The aims of this study are:

To establish the causes of employee fraud.
To establish the nature of fraud committed by employees at universities.
To establish the measures which are put in place to prevent fraud.
To understand the measures which universities need to implement to prevent fraud.

Through your kind participation I hope to understand employee fraud and its causes. The results of the survey are intended to contribute to improving the measures put in place by universities to prevent fraud. Your participation in this project is voluntary. You may refuse to participate or withdraw from the project at any time with no negative consequence. There will be no monetary gain from participating in this survey. Confidentiality and anonymity of records identifying you as a participant will be maintained by the SCHOOL OF MANAGEMENT, IT AND GOVERNANCE, UKZN. The researcher undertakes to safeguard hard copies of the data by means of a lock and key for a period of five years. Thereafter, hard copies of the data will be shredded personally by the researcher using a mechanical paper shredder.
