* Before starting the survey, read the following preamble.

In Singapore, traditional media outlets are controlled by the two government-linked companies Singapore Press Holdings, and Mediacorp. Traditional media include newspapers (e.g. Straits Times, Today, Lianhe Zaobao, Berita Harian, Tamil Murasu) and their online websites (e.g. straitstimes.com, todayonline.com, zaobao.com), radio channels, and television channels (e.g. Channel 5, Channel 8, Channel Newsasia).

In recent years, alternative news sites have been developed to deliver Singapore news and perspectives on social and political issues, which are based on the principle of citizen journalism. They feature user-generated content and are open to readers' discussions. They are often not regulated and controlled by the Singapore government. These sites include The Online Citizen, TR Emeritus, Bertha Harian, and Mothership.sg. They also include political blogs such as Martyn See's Singapore Rebel, and Alex Au's Yawning Bread.
