Dear Respondent,

I, INNOCENTIA NONDUMISO NGEMA, an MBA student, at the Graduate School of Business and Leadership, of the University of KwaZulu Natal. You are invited to participate in a research project entitled Talent Management: Exploring solutions for attracting and retaining scarce skilled employees within the eThekwini Municipality Electricity Unit. The aim of this study is to explore sustainable talent management strategies to attract and retain scarce skilled employees within the Ethekwini Municipality Electricity Unit. Through your participation I hope to understand (1) why are employees, especially the ones occupying scarce skills positions, leaving the eThekwini Electricity Unit? (2) Is Talent Management the most viable option to curb the shortage of Scarce Skills within the eThekwini Electricity Unit? What strategies can the eThekwini Electricity Unit use to, not only attract new talent but also retain existing talent? The results of the focus group are intended to contribute to answer these fore-mentioned questions. Your participation in this project is voluntary. You may refuse to participate or withdraw from the project at any time with no negative consequence. There will be no monetary gain from participating in this survey/focus group. Confidentiality and anonymity of records identifying you as a participant will be maintained by the Graduate School of Business and Leadership, UKZN. If you have any questions or concerns about completing the questionnaire or about participating in this study, you may contact me or my supervisor at the numbers listed above. The survey should take you about 5 – 10 minutes to complete. I hope you will take the time to complete this survey.
