* Volunteering allowed the development of skills and knowledge relevant to environmental issues/settings (through information sessions and training)
* Volunteering provided the opportunity to establish beneficial networks with industries and/or professionals and improve upon industry techniques (Training, communication and engagement with professionals in the industry to improve overall knowledge and skills, such as macro invertebrate sampling and water testing)
* Volunteering provided the opportunity to improve my own social network and/or interaction (encourages friendships etc, for example through morning teas)
