* Volunteering allowed the development of skills and knowledge relevant to environmental issues/settings (through information sessions and training)
* Volunteering provided the opportunity to establish beneficial networks with industries and/or professionals and improve upon industry techniques (Training, communication and engagement with professionals in the industry to improve overall knowledge and skills, such as macro invertebrate sampling and water testing)
* Volunteering provided the opportunity to improve my own social network and/or interaction (encourages friendships etc, for example through morning teas)
* Projects have allowed improvement and development of my own skill set and knowledge base, allowing me to feel more confident (training has initially been provided, and then individuals are provided the opportunity of practically applying the teachings).
