Research Project Title: Varieties in the media

The purpose of this study is to investigate the perception of dialects within the media. Each voice you will hear is of a prospective candidate for a newsreader. You will be asked to listen to an audio clip of each candidate reading out a news report and you will then be asked to rate them on certain qualities. All responses are anonymous and will only be used by me to interpret responses to the data. It's quite a short study and shouldn't take too long to complete.

Please read and confirm the following before proceeding:

1. I have carefully read the information sheet explaining the above research project and understand it fully. I have had the opportunity to ask questions and am aware that I am able to contact the researcher at any time, should further questions arise.

2. I am participating in this study voluntarily and am aware that I hold the right to withdraw at any point, without giving a reason. I understand that there will be no negative consequences should I wish to withdraw my consent for participation.

3. I am aware that my responses will remain anonymous for and beyond the duration of the project

4. I agree to take part in this research project and in doing so agree that the data collected in this pilot may be used for further research
