ALL ENTRIES MUST BE SUBMITTED BY THE END OF YOUR DAY OCTOBER 14 |

How your response will help move the digital presence forward
The CMS that HQ maintains and three regions currently use is deprecated and a new CMS must be implemented. A key question is what the regional needs are, as well as whether all regions will participate (and how deeply). This survey is a move toward answering these questions. David Hobbs Consulting will provide a brief report based on the interviews and this survey by the end of October.
Please remember that even if you are responsible only for a part of your region's web presence (for example, partnership sites) you should answer with a view toward your entire region's web presence.

The WHO Global Web Presence — the vision
Let's jump straight into how compelling you think some aspects of having a more well-coordinated global web presence are.
For the next questions assume that everything would get implemented optimally. Subsequent questions will look at your implementation concerns. |
| |
* For the following potential advantages of a centralized CMS, please drag and rank(1st to last) the following in order of interest (even if you think there is a better way of implementing this than in a centralized system): |
| |
| | Better representation of region and countries on global site Ease of maintaining brand consistency Ease of adding a feature from one region to another Better sharing of content from/to regions/countries and the global site Region can focus more on content and communications rather than technology 24/7 monitoring and support More efficient use of resources
| |
* I have placed the above in my order of preference. |
| |
* How many of the above are compelling reasons to move from your current system? |
| |
Your current regional web presence
| |
* How would you rank the importance of your audiences (the 1st being the most important)? |
| |
* How would you rank the IMPORTANCE of different sections of your site (the 1st being the most important)? |
| |
| | Health topics Country sites Partnerships Campaigns Programs
| |
* How would you rank the SUCCESS of different sections of your site (the 1st being the most successful)? |
| |
| | Programs Campaigns Country sites Partnerships Health topics
| |
How consistent is your current web presence? Across all country sites for example, how consistent are they (when answering, please consider the LEAST consistent instance, for example if one country is completely inconsistent then your answer should be inconsistent).
* When considering WHY inconsistency happens, please rank the following reasons (with the 1st being the most frequent reason): |
| |
| | Expediency (it would take too long to implement things in a better way) Valid business reason Political (even when there is not a strong business reason, there is no strong governance to avoid implementing it)
| |
The WHO global web presence — getting there
| |
* When thinking about the possibility of participating in a global CMS, how would you rank the following issues as impediments to moving in (the first one being the most problematic)? |
| |
| | General loss of flexibility and nimbleness Low quality ongoing HQ support Lack of confidence that HQ will implement and roll out a solid system Unconvinced a central CMS is the best route to a better WHO-wide web presence Specific functionality that we have implemented that we fear would not be a priority for a centralized system General governance issues Burden on the region in implementation, migration, and rollout Difficulty in coordinating between regions and HQ
| |
| * How many regional staff would be involved or impacted in moving to a new CMS? | | |
What functionality is important to you, and how much have you already spent customizing it? Please select the option as far to the LEFT as is relevant (for instance, if you have spent a lot of time working on tweaking functionality but now realize more basic functionality would suffice, select "Basic functionality is fine.")
How deeply would you potentially be willing to participate in / fund a global CMS (pick as far RIGHT as is relevant)?
* Please rank the importance of HQ providing services for the following (the 1st being the most important): |
| |
| | Implementation and migration of my region's sites Core CMS implementation Hosting Publishing content on a day-to-day basis Day-to-day technical support Training
| |
* If your region was the only one to NOT participate in a global CMS, would your region be willing to pay for the one-time and ongoing cost to integrate with the global CMS for key functionality such as content sharing (this work would be on two sides: your CMS and the global CMS)? |
| |

Thanks — any final thoughts?
