Project Description

Instructor Feedback on Written Work

Project Abstract

While it is true that instructors and researchers in the ESL field have discussed the topic of feedback on written work before, as recently as March 2004 Dana Ferris reported that we were still far from having any firm guidelines. This research aims to look at what ESL students want in terms of feedback on writing, how satisfied they are with what they receive from instructors and if there is evidence that instructor feedback helps students to improve their essay writing on subsequent drafts and on subsequent essays. The research is carried out within the context of an American Style university in the Middle East.
