Project Abstract

Research Objectives:
The purpose of a building code is to establish minimum requirements necessary to protect public health, safety and welfare in the built environment. However this purpose can only be met if the building codes are properly enforced. The primary objectives of this study are:
1. Determination of the most frequently reported building code violations in the state of Florida as observed by building inspectors.
2. Determination of which topics related to the building construction process need additional continuing education courses.
Research Methodology:
The research will use surveys directed at building inspectors as the primary source of data collection. The survey will be designed to obtain the quantitative data necessary for analysis. The data collected will be statistically analyzed and recommendations will be given according to the resulting data.
