Project Description

Information Technology and its impact on banking services

Project Abstract

This dissertation details the development of and future prospects for online financial services in the UK. In the last few years, a number of new developments in particular, the spread of broadband Internet access across the UK have had a significant impact on the industry. All major financial institutions now offer online financial services and, with the growth of broadband and the increasing penetration of computers in the home, access to online financial services continues to grow. However, security issues concerning online banking have also come to the fore over the past 3 years. Many banks have been forced to temporarily close down their websites and warn customers not to respond to e-mails asking for their personal details and passwords.
