Project Description

Environmental and Contextual Factors Influencing Academic Success Among African Americans

Project Abstract

Factors impacting academic achievement of African American children such as low economic status, poverty, family structure, student motivation have all been cited throughout the literature. However, few studies have focused on the influence of school climate, pride in school, and positive student practices in historically African American high schools. The current study aims to investigate positive variables that lead to African American academic success within African American communities.
