Project Description

The aim is to find out how the enjoyment of traditional war games is affected by complicated rules adn how this can be overcome with a learning tool.

Project Abstract

It can take a good while to learn all the rules of complicated games such as War Games, and during this time interest can easily be lost for good. Alternatively, interest will be retained and the player may spend many years perfecting tactics, while being spurred on by the passion that surrounds those that play the game and the satisfaction of competing against a human opponent, as opposed to the increasing popular video game. While War Games lack the ‘pick up and play’ aspect of video games, this project will take advantage of the changing leisure pursuits of today’s computer driven youth, by using a now familiar format in the form of a learning tool to encourage experimentation with a traditional ‘hands on’ toy.
