Investigation on the opinions that major Spanish and Swedish corporations hold with respect to the imminent european greenhouse gases emission market
In recent years, the intense debate about the existence of Climate Change is progressively being replaced by a newer discussion regarding what actions society can trigger to respond and prevent the negative impacts of Climate Change.
World's emissions of Greenhouse Gases (GHG) need to be reduced. An acceptable level of GHG concentrations in the atmosphere should be achieved.
The purpose of this Thesis is to review the international negotiations on emerging Greenhouse gases markets, analyse the current trends in Emissions Trading Schemes and investigate the attitude and opinion that major Spanish and Swedish companies and institutions are adopting towards a carbon market scenario.
Preliminary investigations indicate that the attitude towards the carbon market may be very different from one company to another. This document will further investigate this trend by the elaboration of a questionnaire to some major Spanish and Swedish companies. The survey would aim at identifying strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats (SWOT analysis) from the point of view of the corporations. We will also aim at pointing out the degree of divergence among major corporations on the attitude towards the emissions trading scenario.
