Grouping and Filtering Data to Identify Opportunities

data segmentation toolYou have collected all the responses to the survey. Now the question is: Can you compare how different groups answered your questions? While looking at your reports, it is important that this data can be classified into sub-groups so that hidden opportunities can be uncovered. This is where QuestionPro’s grouping and segmentation feature comes in really handy.

How to group and segment your data?

Set clear goals in understanding how you wish to group the collected data. For example:

Demographic: This could include gender, race, education level, marital status, etc.

Geographic: The location of customers will play a major role in tailoring your marketing goals.

Psychographic: Differentiate customers based on their values, habits or opinions.

Behavioral: Understand the customers behavior by understanding how often do they buy, use or recommend your products.

There are three different types of data segmentation options in QuestionPro:

  1. Responses-based Grouping:

This is one of the most commonly used grouping and segmentation type like behavioral segmentation. With this grouping type, you can group the responses based on how people answered a specific question. After setting up the segmentation, you can even schedule a report so that you receive an automated report.

  1. Custom Variables/ System Variables:

You can choose to group the responses according to these pre-defined variables. Using system-based variables will not only save your respondents time, but will also give you more accurate data. For instance, if while creating the email list, you have added custom variable as ‘male’ and ‘female’, you can use this option of segmentation.

  1. Time-based Filtering:

Create time based filters to segment your data. This way, you can segment your reports for a particular time frame when the survey was completed. If you collect data for a survey periodically, filtering data by time-based criteria can give you data relevant to your requirement.

Using these three easy and cool ways you can segment your survey data to save time and identify hidden opportunities within your data in a different and creative way!
