50 Live Poll Questions for Meetings, Classes and Presentations

The hardest part of using live polls is often not the software. It is deciding what to ask.

This list gives you 50 live poll questions for meetings, classes, presentations, training sessions, webinars, events and town halls. Each question includes a suggested format so you can move from idea to interaction quickly.

How to choose the right live poll question

Start with what you need from the audience:

  • Choose: use multiple choice when the audience must select between known options.
  • Measure: use a rating when you want confidence, agreement, readiness or usefulness on a scale.
  • Explore: use Live Feed when you want open-ended questions or ideas.
  • Visualize: use a word cloud for short responses where repeated words matter.
  • Test: use a quiz when there is a correct answer.

QuestionPro LivePolls supports a mix of feedback and quiz question types in one session, so you can move from opinion to knowledge check without building separate experiences. See the current LivePolls editor.

How to make these questions better for your audience

Use their language

Replace generic terms such as “project,” “process” or “topic” with the names your audience actually uses.

Ask one thing at a time

“How clear and useful was this session?” measures two different ideas. Split it into two questions if both matter.

Decide what happens after the result

A good live poll is connected to an action. If “more examples” wins, show another example. If confidence is low, clarify before moving on. If one Q&A question is heavily upvoted, address it.

When to use each question type

Question type Best for Avoid when
Multiple choice Priorities, decisions, preferences You do not know the likely answer options
Rating Confidence, agreement, readiness, clarity You need a correct/incorrect knowledge test
Live Feed Questions, ideas, reasons, concerns You need a fast quantitative result
Word cloud One-word themes, pulse checks, brainstorming You need detailed explanations
Quiz Knowledge checks, training, learning You are asking for an opinion

Use a small number of questions well

You do not need 20 interactions in a 30-minute presentation. One question at the right moment can be more valuable than constant polling. The best live poll question is the one that gives you information you are prepared to use.

Frequently asked questions

How many live poll questions should I ask?

Use enough to create meaningful checkpoints without interrupting the flow. For a short presentation, two or three well-timed interactions may be enough.

What is a good first live poll question?

Start with something low-risk and relevant, such as “Which topic are you most interested in today?” It teaches the audience how to participate while giving you useful context.

What should I ask at the end?

Try a next-step question: “What needs answering before we finish?” or “How confident are you applying this after today?”

Turn the question into a decision

Use these 50 prompts as starting points, but always connect the poll to the moment. Ask, see what the audience tells you, then adapt.
