Cell-Based Weighting

Introduction

Cell-based weighting in QuestionPro BI helps you adjust survey data so specific respondent groups are represented according to your desired target proportions. This is useful when you need dashboard results to reflect a defined distribution across selected survey questions, such as demographic or segment-based cells.

With a cell-based weighting scheme, you can choose a survey data source, select the questions that define the cells, enter target proportions, and then apply the completed scheme to dashboards or individual widgets. You can also reopen the scheme later to modify questions or update target proportions as analysis needs change.

How do I create cell based weighting?

From the left navigation panel, open Weightings in QuestionPro BI. This is where weighting schemes are created and managed for dashboard analysis.

Click New weight scheme to begin setting up a new weighting configuration.

Choose Cell based weighting so the scheme can adjust results based on target proportions for selected question combinations.

Select the survey data source that contains the responses you want to weight. The selected source determines which questions and response cells are available for the scheme.

Select the questions that should define the weighting cells. These questions create the cell combinations that will receive target proportions.

Click Next after confirming the selected questions.

Use the optional criteria step only if you need to filter the scheme to specific response instances. If no extra filter is required, leave it unchanged and click Next.

Enter a clear scheme name so the weighting setup can be identified later when applying it to dashboards or widgets.

Enter the target proportion for each cell. These values define the desired distribution that the weighted analysis should follow.

Review the target proportions and make sure the total adds up to 200; the scheme must meet this total before it can be saved.

Click Save to create the cell-based weighting scheme.

Monitor the progress panel in the bottom-right corner until the creation process finishes.

Open the created weighting scheme from the list when you need to review or adjust its configuration.

Click Modify questions if the scheme should use a different set of questions to define its cells.

Update the target proportions if the desired distribution changes after the scheme has been created.

Click Update scheme, then monitor the progress panel again until the update is complete.

How do I apply cell based weighting?

Navigate to Dashboards, select the dashboard where the weighting scheme should be used, and open it.

To apply the weighting scheme to a specific widget, select the widget and open its settings panel.

In the widget settings panel, go to the Analytics tab, choose the widget-level weighting mode, open the Weight schemes dropdown, and select the desired scheme.
